An active pianist and composer on the Chicago jazz scene, Josh Moshier brings his unique voice to a variety of bands including trumpeter Marquis Hill’s Blacktet and the Moshier-Lebrun Collective with saxophonist Mike Lebrun. His music has been profiled on NPR’s JazzSet with Dee Dee Bridgewater and cited by the Chicago Tribune for “considerable lyric grace and compositional forethought.” In 2011 Josh premiered his extended work, “The Studs Terkel Project” at the Chicago Cultural Center, commissioned by Chamber Music America’s New Jazz Works program and inspired by the writing of the oral historian Studs Terkel. With Lebrun he has released “Joy Not Jaded,” (OA2 Records, 2009) and "The Local Colorists (Digital EP, 2011). Josh can be heard on Marquis Hill's debut album "New Gospel" and saxophonist Chris Madsen's upcoming recording "Pop Art."
Josh has composed music for television (The Oprah Winfrey Show) and for AAA titles at WMS Gaming, where he has created new music for such games as Clue, The Princess Bride and Gone with the Wind. In 2011, Josh participated in the NYU/ASCAP Film Scoring Workshop in New York City. Most recently, he scored "Sidewalk," a short film directed by animator Celia Bulwinkel.
